How?

Spotify pools all subscriptions and then pays out to the top artists. So you're paying Drake even if you never listen to him :(FirstListen will pay each artist you listen to directly.

Why?

I'm a local Brooklyn musician and streaming is not built to help me launch my career as an artist.
Spotify doesn't even pay artists that get under 1000 streams anymore.
